Univercell have in house facilities for making vac formed battery cases. These can be quite complex shapes and designs to suit the space available for the battery or the aesthetic appearance of the battery. We have our own design facilities using AutoCad and with our in house machine shop we can make most of our own tooling. We make cases from 1.5mm to 2.5mm ABS, normally with a textured finish on the outside. This system is ideal for small or large runs of batteries as the tooling costs and production cost are very reasonable. The designs can include provision for sockets, switches, carrying handles, belt clips etc and the finished battery can be filled with foam or epoxy resin if required for the application. Many intrinsically safe batteries are housed in vac formed cases then filled with the appropriate resin. The venting provisions of the cells are maintained where necessary.
